From Monday, 4th of July the guided tours service organized by Officine Culturali inside the Benedictine Monastery of Catania will have a new schedule and prices. Guided tours, around 75 minutes long, will be everyday from 10am to 1pm and from 3pm to 6pm, one tour starting every hour. Usually the daily, English guided tour is set at 13:00, but it is better to check for info and book before to be sure.
Officine Culturali’s staff will lead visitors in a time travel from the Roman age of the site to our days, thanks to the contemporary restoration made by the architect Giancarlo de Carlo. Among flourishing gardens and intricate corridors, people will cross the 2 cloisters, the basement from the 16th century, the aisle from the 18th century made by the architect Vaccarini with its evocative kitchen and cellars stuck inside the solidified lava stone. Moreover, during the weekends and in the holiday breaks of the University, guided tours will reveal the extra space of the magnificent rooms of the Benedictine abbot.
